- Dorset golden apples are medium to large sized and cylindrical in shape. They are light green to yellow in color with a red blush. Its flesh is juicy, firm, crisp, and creamy white. Some have described the apple as seeming to crackle when it?s bitten into. The flavor is balanced, mild, and sweet tart, similar to the Gala. However, the flavor and texture can vary significantly with ripeness.
- Dorset golden apple is a dual purpose cultivar of domesticated apple that is very early ripening and does well in warm climates. Anna was bred by Abba Stein at the Ein Shemer kibbutz in Israel, in order to achieve a Golden Delicious-like apple, that can be cultivated in nearly tropical areas. Anna flourishes even with less than 300 hours, so it can be grown in warm climates.
